Job Description

Olympus Corporation of the Americas (“OCA”) is looking for a Trade Operations Manager to manage OCA’s compliance to Customs & Border Protection Regulations through the management of trade data, accurate import transactions, customs broker management and issue resolution. Manager will drive initiatives to enhance procedures, look for operational efficiencies and serve as in-house subject matter expert on trade compliance regulations.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for managing the company’s compliance with import entry clearance processes and the regulations that govern these processes of Customs & Border Protection (“CBP”), and Partner Government Agencies (“PGA”),namely the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”).

  • Responsible for customs broker management driving initiatives to monitor performance through quarterly business reviews, key performance indicators and scorecards Manage 3 direct reports and lead the team in supporting business units and customs brokers with daily operational support and issue resolution.

  • During issue resolution perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Perform weekly entry line level data audits and resolve identified issues. Manage Bonds, Powers of Attorney, and utilize ACE reporting to support projects.

  • Create desk procedures/ work instructions and trainings to guide employees in the performance of entry clearance and broker management.

  • Liaison with other corporate functions, such as Logistics, Product Managers and Sourcing to enhance Supplier invoicing and adherence to processes to facilitate clearance and conform to regulatory requirements.

  • Manage other special projects as needed.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in progressively challenging responsibilities within a trade compliance role preferably within manufacturing or the medical equipment industry.

  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. customs regulations.

  • Extensive technical skills in entry review and import/export transaction data elements.

  • Licensed Customs Broker.

  • Advanced Knowledge of CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment(“ACE”).

  • Strong action-oriented individual.

  • Skilled in Microsoft office, especially Excel.

  • Must have data analytical and critical thinking skills and be detailed oriented.

  • Excellent research, writing and effective verbal communication skills.

  • Good understanding of FDA import requirements.

Preferred:

  • Minimal travel for company business

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing and developing people preferred.

  • Experience with FDA a plus.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $90,243.00 - $126,339.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
