Schedule:   Monday-Thursday, 5:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE JOB!

Inspects all Gentex products as well as purchased products visually and dimensionally.  These include such products as helmets, visors, fabricated soft goods and sewn products. 

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers (including DCMA), clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to individually prioritize work tasks based on production needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES/SKILLS:

  • Assures all products meet the requirements of the Contract, Shop Order, Drawings and any Military Specifications.
  • Inspects all materials for any visual or dimensional defects as per the characteristics specified in the MIL-Spec or on the Drawing and maintains appropriate records.
  • Examines all purchased parts and manufactured products to ensure compliance with either the Purchase Order or Spec or drawing- including associated paperwork requirements.
  • Assures all materials are properly identified with Labels/Stamps that are required by the Drawing or Shop Order.
  • Participate in presentations to DCMA
  • Submit test requests. Follow through on tests requested and test approval process. Communicates approval and reject issues to corresponding employees.  
  • Entry level product testing for acceptance
  • Ensure paperwork associated with end item shipments is correct and flowed to required parties
  • Track molded products and ensure appropriate in process testing is performed
  • Create quality alerts which highlight critical issues seen in inspection/testing
  • Identifies the product by attaching appropriate tags such as:  Acceptable Product, Rework, Rejected, Return to Vendor.  Assures all proper inspection procedures are documented.
  • Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required.
  • Must have a methodical and well-organized approach to the work-load
  • Initiate NC reports and carry out disposition
  • Handling and maintaining quality records
  • Monthly inventory reporting on product in QC01
  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • Conduct training on QC Inspector level 1 as needed
  • Able to identify and sort issues from customer returns
  • Stay up-to-date on safety practices, quality policy, and work instructions
  • Proactively maintains housekeeping and promoting a culture of proactive safety
  • Perform process audits (manufacturing or transact onal/ process based)
  • Ability to use ERP for transactions and traceability purposes
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action activities
  • Verify VMI information is submitted with product
  • Assist with the creation of new documents and the modifying of existing procedures.
  • Participate in Score (lean events)
  • Coordinate first piece inspections requests
  • Manage vendor cert issue system
  • Collect information for analysis
  • Perform all duties required of QC Inspector Level 1
  • Other duties as assigned.

     

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Employee is frequently required to walk; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and occasionally sit.  The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The individual must have a high level of comprehension, and a high level of general, verbal, written, and numerical intelligence.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works majority of the day in a climate controlled environment, with the exception of or otherwise specified, performing work in the warehouse or manufacturing areas which are subject to changes in temperature and/or noise.

 

 

LOCATION:

Gentex's Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County. Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia. The area hosts numerous nearby state parks, nature preserves and local colleges and universities, including The University of Scranton and Marywood University. Northeast Pennsylvania is a beautiful area and offers an excellent cost of living. It is a great place to work, recreate, meet people, raise a family and live!
