CTG Senior Technical Engineer in Buffalo, New York

Description

CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Technical Engineer(IAM) opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Location: Buffalo, NY (will accept east coast remote)

Duration: 12 months

Overview:

Serves as subject matter expert for specific technologies and services used by the Company.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The position works under supervision of the Technology Team Lead. The jobholder is competent to work independently on all high-level systems analysis and technical phases of systems and network engineering. The position is capable of managing the activities of others on a project basis for large scope efforts and may lead project activities. The jobholder monitors staff performance on assigned projects relative to their overall abilities and effectiveness in completing projects within schedules. The position interacts with senior management, other technology personnel, clients and vendors. The jobholder provides backup to higher management as required and may be called on to serve as a technical representative on committees, ad-hoc projects, etc.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Technology management, customers, and support teams on a regular basis to lead the design, development, and execution of technical solutions that meet or exceed current and future needs of the organization.

  • Maintain and lead open communication with the principal application’s vendor to troubleshoot OOTB functionality and devise custom solutions to meet business needs.

  • Review and bring internal visibility to regulatory requirements and standards to ensure the application remains compliant with external governance control mechanisms.

  • Perform code reviews of development changes and share in the responsibility of maintaining strict version control.

  • Collaborate with development and platform engineering teams to integrate the principal application with other company systems and applications.

  • Responsibilities may include infrastructure architecture and design, research and development of new or expanded systems, creation of technology standards and policies, thorough analysis of user requirements and operational constraints, unit test and system integration, and user acceptance testing.

  • Regularly and independently interact with business partners of varying associate and management levels to ensure clarity of the problem/opportunity and elicit business requirements. Estimate the size of the effort required to complete complex, moderate to large scale projects where applicable.

  • Coordinate vendor interactions and manage contract and/or vendor resources as needed.

  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators. Review documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by less experienced staff.

  • Seek to expand knowledge and understanding of financial services trends, practices, and technologies on a continuous basis.

  • Follow and promote use of industry best practices, standards, and procedures.

  • Maintain a high level of technical aptitude and strong working knowledge of supporting application(s), development environments and the supported client environment. Maintain a strong and detailed understanding of vendor products, services, systems, and updates.

  • Assist in developing expense and capital budgets.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.

  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the Company brand.

  • Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

  • Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in a technical engineering position involving infrastructure design technologies, data management and interchange, system design and/or development for complex applications

  • Experience with Linux and Windows platforms

  • Experience with Sailpoint Identity IQ, CyberArk, Identity Access Management (IAM), Privileged Identity Management and Privileged Access Management (PAM).

  • Experience with Cloud Computing Service Models ( SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS )

  • Experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle or nosql or mongo

  • Experience with network design and implementation

  • Ability to translate complex business/functional requirements into structured high quality implementations using any variety of industry standard approaches

  • Demonstrated ability to develop alternative solutions to complex problems and recommend the best solution to the technology business, and project teams
