Endeavor Health Services Peer Specialist - Crisis Stabilization Center in Buffalo, New York

Join our dedicated team at the Endeavor Health Services EAST Haven Crisis Stabilization Center as a full-time Peer Specialist, where your unique insights and lived experiences will empower and support individuals navigating through challenging times. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate guidance and foster a safe, understanding environment, helping clients on their journey towards stability and wellness. Our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) is an innovative approach to treatment designed to treat the whole person through a comprehensive range of services, including mental health and substance use disorder services.

Responsibilities includes:

  • Meet with individuals to help provide support and advocacy

  • Attend meetings with individuals to assist them in accessing services that they want and need

  • Assist individuals and/or families in identifying barriers that prevent them from accessing services

  • Work with the individual and the agency team to help develop alternatives to barriers

  • Implement activities to involve individuals to actively engage in the recovery process

  • Ensure all required forms and documentation are completed

  • Willing and capable of working with individuals of different cultural backgrounds

  • Assist in obtaining input and feedback from individuals to determine needs, satisfaction, etc. This may include assisting individuals in completing documentation, other required forms, and client satisfaction surveys

  • May develop and facilitate support groups

  • May assist in recruiting members and facilitating meetings of the Endeavor Advisory Council

  • May conduct community outreach activities to promote the work of their assigned program

  • May assist in training and mentoring of new peer staff

Qualifications:

  • Must have lived experience in mental health and/or substance use

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Must have an OMH Peer Certification or must complete within six months of hire

  • CRPA designation not required but preferred

  • Must possess the knowledge, desire, and skills to advocate for the needs of individuals and families

  • Must have knowledge of community resources, the ability to communicate well with others, and the willingness to learn how to network with other organizations

  • Ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with people from diverse background

  • Comfortable working one-on-one and in group settings

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and able to adapt to changing situations

$17.60 - 22.00 per hour depending on experience and credentials.
