Brief Job Description
The Exceptional Education Department is seeking a graduate assistant to:
Assist in preparations for Advisement Week, campus Week of Welcome, new student orientations, information sessions, awards ceremonies and student presentations
Assist with coordination of USG student group events
Assist in maintaining social media presence
Assist with design and assembly of departmental bulletin boards and glass showcases
Assist with the coordination and facilitation of joint departmental events (brown bags, etc.) and faculty meetings
Conduct academic research
Develop and facilitate seminars and presentations
Complete written articles or reports
Compile and edit newsletters
Collaborate with unit faculty and staff on projects
The assistant may, under the direction of the dean’s office, be asked to serve as a student representative on teacher education related committees.
GA position includes tuition scholarship up to 18 credit hours (9 hrs fall 2024; 9 hrs spring 2025) for the 2024-2025 academic year. The position requires 20 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
Current or entering full-time (6 credit hours) matriculated graduate student at Buffalo State University. Demonstrate knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office programs. Demonstrate ability to successfully navigate and communicate on web-based platforms. Demonstrate knowledge and use of various social media programs. Demonstrate excellent organization and communication skills, especially the ability to write clearly and effectively. Demonstrate ability to work well in a collaborative professional higher education office.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing articles, descriptive essays, and/or reports. Experience using graphic design programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite. Education background.
