Position Summary

We are looking for a Director of Creative Operations to lead project and production operations of our in-house creative team and external creative vendors. This role will be responsible for owning project and production operations for a creative team that supports various marketing, brand, innovation, and product functions. This position reports to the VP of creative and will work closely with our designers, copywriters, freelancers, as well as other cross-functional teams on the operations, digital product, and marketing teams. This person will be the backbone of the creative team, not only liaising and collaborating with cross functional partners but keeping the creative team efficient, effective and working as a well oiled machine. This role requires a love of all things creative, the creative process and the desire to optimize processes to help produce best in class creative work

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the systems and processes that facilitate creative project execution and cross-departmental collaboration— roadmapping a wide range of projects and campaigns, creating timelines and process, running internal and external reviews, and organizing hand-off

  • Own briefing process and briefing templates across organization, optimizing for better efficiency

  • Determine resource availability, intake of projects, and prioritization of projects via Asana

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Creative Team and internal and external teams to establish expectations, provide status updates, and field feedback

  • Manage freelance and agency resources (budget, invoicing, contracts) to ensure proper coverage to support business needs.

  • Partner closely with Innovation and Operations on physical packaging design, sampling, timelines, and approvals

  • Own asset library via CMS and project management platform

  • Plan photoshoots and content creation with the support of freelance producers—manage all internal timelines, budgets, product creation and delivery, and retouching

  • Manage photography and video usage rights ensuring rights are negotiated and renewed as needed

  • Partner with finance to manage the Creative Team’s yearly budget

  • Directly manage Project and Production Coordinator

  • Assess and manage risks, foresee and resolve bottlenecks, and proactively escalate potential issues with a focus on providing creative solutions.

  • Build and maintain key relationships, sharing a commitment to driving communication and collaboration across teams

  • Collaborate with other team leads to provide appropriate strategic thinking in all phases of business and project development

  • Lead creative team morale - planning team events, scheduling lunches, etc

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience as a project or program manager, account manager, producer, or similar role within a startup, creative agency, design studio, or in-house creative studio. Startup experience is strongly preferred.

  • Experience on-set and with content shoots

  • Experience managing budgets between $1-2M dollars, including invoicing and contracts

  • Proven ability to set priorities, create timelines and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to work well cross-functionally, influence stakeholders, and synthesize information and creative feedback from diverse stakeholders

  • A strong desire to work and be around creative people and teams

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

    The anticipated base salary range for this role is $135,000 to $155,000 annually (+10% discretionary bonus). Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills. This role will be a hybrid position based out of our Williamsburg office and the expectation is that this person will be in the office 3 days per week.
