The EMR Clinical Support Specialist is a Level-2 Support position within the IT Help Desk. This position is responsible for training, assisting and supporting staff in the use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) as it pertains to patient care and data collection. The position requires the ability to foster and maintain positive and close working relationships with staff in all departments. This position requires flexibility in schedule, some evenings and weekends may be required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with providers, managers, nurses and support staff to assess and recommend clinical workflow changes and application enhancements for increased operational consistency and efficiency.

• Works with managers and providers to review and improve workflow efficiency through use of the EHR application.

• Achieves customization and configuration of EHR clinical modules for increased efficiency of clinicians’ time and improvement in quality of patient care.

• Works with CIO, CFO, COO, CCRO and Quality Manager to develop, monitor and achieve annual quality objectives and goals.

• Solicits feedback on development, functionality, upgrades, planned downtime and application and device performance.

• Develops and maintains training exercises and materials for users of clinical information systems including user manuals, policies/procedures and reference materials.

• Maintains knowledge of the institutional clinical systems and clinical policies and procedures relevant to practice for each of the roles trained.

• Trouble-shoot system issues and provide IT support to employees.

• Has knowledge of patient education principles.

• Conduct classroom training sessions, in-services, group and individual instruction, needs assessments, program evaluations and end-user proficiency assessments.

• Works with other facilities and organizations to find optimal utilization of the system.

• Participate in EHR related webinars, trainings and conference call and remain current on changes related to Oak Orchard EHRs.

• Participates in all Network wide Clinical meetings as necessary: eCW, Medent Health Efficient, CHCANYS (Community Health Center Association of New York State).

•This role requires frequent travel so our satellite locations

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to teach in both individual and group settings.

Education/Experience:

• Associates level degree preferred

• 3-5 years of clinical health care experience including use of an electronic health record. Strong preference for candidates with experience in eCW/Medent or NextGen.
