Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for disassembling and assembling transit wheel set assemblies and their components using proper fixtures, mechanical devices, and hydraulic presses. You will perform dimensional inspections, documentations, and assembly of transit wheel set assemblies and components, ensuring all products meet specifications. You may also perform magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspections if certified, clean, mask, paint, or apply coatings to components, and prepare parts and assemblies for shipment. Detailed documentation is crucial for this role.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and assemble transit wheel set assemblies and their components using proper fixtures, mechanical devices, and hydraulic presses.

• Perform dimensional inspections and documentations of transit wheel set assemblies and components.

• Test requalified or manufactured products to specifications.

• Perform magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspections if certified.

• Clean, mask, paint, or apply coatings to components.

• Prepare parts and assemblies for shipment.

• Maintain detailed documentation of all processes.

Essential Skills

• 2-3 years of mechanical experience in maintenance, automotive, diesel, or related fields.

• Experience in a machine shop environment.

• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

• Proficiency in using hydraulic presses and mechanical devices.

• Familiarity with power tools and mechanical assembly processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in calibration and detailed documentation.

• Certification in magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspection is a plus.

Our company provides a very clean shop environment spread across 210,000 square feet, ensuring a comfortable workspace. Established in 1920, we are a leading manufacturer of gears, gearboxes, and wheels, serving various industries including industrial, transportation, mining, and rail transportation. We are the only authorized source for OEM replacement gearboxes, spare parts, and services for the Air Preheater gearbox. The first shift runs from Monday to Thursday, 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $45760.00/yr.
