WSP USA Part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) System Operator I Trainee in Binghamton, New York

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) System Operator I Trainee, in our Binghamton, NY office.

The TMC System Operator I shall have a detailed familiarity with local area roadways, understand communications protocols and be knowledgeable on the location and purpose of all ITS elements. Candidates must be capable of independently following procedures and direction with minimal oversight and supervision. Candidates must be willing to work all other shifts as needed to provide coverage when other operators require time-off.

Your Impact

  • Operate the TMC’s advanced traffic management system (ATMS)

  • Provide human monitoring of highway systems, CCTV surveillance cameras and traffic control devices

  • Aid in providing coordinated management of traffic incidents between multiple agencies - including DOT, law enforcement, emergency responders and other partner agency personnel

  • Communicate with maintenance crews during snow and ice operations;

  • Keep detailed records of incidents, roadway issues, and call logs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 0-2 years full time employment

  • Highschool Diploma

  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Must be willing to work all shifts including weekends, overnights and holidays;

  • Ability to professionally interact with co-workers and client staff;

  • Proficient with various computer/software systems - including MS Office, GIS and web-based information systems;

  • In-depth knowledge of local roadways;

  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision;

  • Must have an aptitude for providing exceptional customer service;

  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm during high pressure situations;

  • Ability to perform in a cooperative team environment

  • Applicants must be able to pass a background/criminal history check.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher OR Two years of full-time employment working in a 24/7/365 Operations Center with at least one of the following groups and/or agencies: Transportation, Fire, Police, EMS, 911, or similar experience in the Military.

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $32,200 - $57,900
