Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Network Systems Engineer with expertise in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise Wi-Fi systems tailored for delivering Internet services through managed Wi-Fi networks to residents of multi-family housing (apartments). An ideal candidate will have direct experience with Ruckus Wireless Networks or similar solutions. As a key member of our technology team, you will lead efforts to provide reliable and high-performance network and Wi-Fi connectivity solutions in a multi-tenant environment.

Responsibilities

Wi-Fi System Design and Implementation:

  • Lead the design and implementation of managed Wi-Fi networks for multi-family housing, ensuring coverage, capacity, and reliability.
  • Configure and implement property wide networks that include the configuration of Internet gateways, core routers, network switches, wireless controllers, and wireless access points.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand specific requirements and tailor solutions to meet the unique demands of apartment living.

Service Delivery:

  • Oversee the delivery of Internet services through managed Wi-Fi networks to residents, ensuring seamless connectivity and a positive user experience.
  • Implement Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms to prioritize and optimize Internet traffic.

Network Scalability and Performance:

  • Design scalable Wi-Fi solutions that can accommodate the growing demands of residents and devices within multi-family housing.
  • Continuously optimize network performance and address any bottlenecks or congestion points.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement robust security measures to protect residents' data and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Maintaining a knowledge base of evolving network security best practices and updating methodology to stay current.

Collaboration with Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with property management teams, Internet service providers, and vendors to coordinate network installations and upgrades.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members, property owners and management, and residents to address concerns and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments, namely sales and support, to provide additional knowledge as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing enterprise Wi-Fi systems, with a focus on multi-family housing
  • Strong understanding of managed Wi-Fi networks, including user authentication,firewalling, and access control
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in delivering Internet services in multi-tenant environments
  • Experience with network monitoring and configuration
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Preferred:

  • Active certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, ECSE-Design
  • Thorough understanding of Cisco Enterprise and/or Ruckus CLI Syntax
  • Experience with network design documentation in Visio
