Guardian Life Corporate Security Specialist in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Position Summary

The Senior Security Specialist acts as a first responder for emergencies, evacuations, and active shooter incidents supporting the Guardian home office location in Bethlehem, PA. It is an armed, on-site hybrid position that has daily responsibilities for processing visitors, assisting colleagues, monitoring access control alarms and cameras, conducting building tours, and performing Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Operator functions.

You will, as on-site security:

  • Respond to emergencies in an orderly manner using proper training and following all SOPs.

  • Function as first responder in security emergencies, making “on the spot” determinations, of how to respond and determining when an escalated response / potential use of force is required to protect employees.

  • Ability to interact with law enforcement and other emergency responders in a highly effective manner.

  • Provide a courteous, professional, respectful, pleasant, and responsive interaction with each associate and visitor; presents a good image of Guardian and of the Corporate Security Office.

  • Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, access control or video surveillance problems, and unauthorized persons.

  • Document all incidents in a manner that ensures all facts are accurately reported and can be effectively used in connection with any necessary legal action that may be required.

  • Control access to Guardian facilities; assists visitors and verify right to access; screens visitors and Guardian associates in an efficient manner in order to expedite their admittance to the facility.

  • Monitor entrances and exits, prevents unapproved or unlawful entry, controls entrances, monitors remote entrances and other areas of the facilities.

  • Perform investigations of alleged misconduct as directed by Corporate Security Leadership.

  • Conduct site visits to new and existing locations to conduct security assessments and determine control requirements and improvements if necessary.

You will, as a GSOC Operator:

  • Proactively monitor and report critical information for global and regional incidents.

  • Maintain global situational awareness of all regional and home office locations.

  • Initiate and coordinate crisis management response activities.

  • Utilize advanced skills to perform preventive safety measures to protect property from theft, damage, or persons from hazards or interference.

You have

  • Strong Microsoft office knowledge coupled with access control and video monitoring software.

  • 5 Years of proven experience in Corporate Security or GSOC roles (Preferred)

  • Experience in Emergency Response and First Responder services (e.g., First Aid, CPR, etc.) (Preferred)

  • Strong Customer Service Skills

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Ability to remain calm and take control during emergency situations

  • Experienced in writing reports

  • Valid Driver’s License (Required)

  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and must be drug free (Required)

  • PA Armed certified via PA 235 (or able to obtain)

  • High degree of professionalism and accountability

  • Self-starter with the ability to problem solve with little supervision

  • Experience adapting to changing business priorities and environments

Location /Travel

Bethlehem, PA office – In office 5 days a week

Salary Range

$56,200.00 - $92,335.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
