Bedford County Commissioners 911 Coordinator in Bedford, Pennsylvania

The Bedford County 911 Center is seeking a full-time 911 Coordinator. The 911 Coordinator manages the operations for the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), including policy and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development, facilitation of communications with first responder agencies to identify best practices and SOPs for radio communications, scheduling and payroll for telecommunicators, and maintains the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Provides supervisor and support to the telecommunicators in the PSAP;

· Develops and implements policies and SOPs that are applicable to the telecommunicators and first responder agencies;

· Handles administrative functions for PSAP staff including evaluations, scheduling and payroll, and disciplinary actions;

· Support the Training Coordinator on staff development and quality assurance;

· Ensures maintenance and updates to equipment and technology;

· Maintain the CAD and facilitates updates to response plans from first responders;

· Other duties as assigned by the Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and experience requirements:

Education

a. Associate degree (Bachelor degree preferred);

b. Course work related to public safety, emergency management, criminal justice, or leadership (preferred but not required);

c. Certifications pertaining to Public Safety Answering Points within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to include but not limited to Emergency Medical, Fire, and Law Enforcement dispatching, and Quality Assurance.

· Experience

a. 5-7 years of experience working in a PSAP/911 Center;

b. 3-5 years of experience in a leadership position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Must be able to work extended hours during emergencies;

· Must be able to lift and carry office materials up to 25 lbs;

· Ability to work in an office environment.
