Department of Labor Project Coordinator - Workforce Transition Coordinator in Albany, New York

37.5 hours/weekBachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience; 3 years of which must have been at a supervisory level.Substitutions: Four years of experience, or two years of experience and an Associate’s Degree, may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.Relevant experience includes experience working with immigrant populations, workforce development, human resources, and project or program management.Preferred Qualifications:Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.As a Workforce Transition Coordinator, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Help oversee day-to-day operations of a state-wide job transition program impactingthousands of individuals• Work with Department staff to help fund, develop and/or implement training programsand outreach activities that promote programs and services• Help establish program goals, policies, and procedures• Engage high-level stakeholders across New York City and New York State to establishand monitor training programs• Help prioritize funding decisions based on program capacity and worker availability• Collaborate with other division leaders regarding programs with interdivisional overlap• Serve as a senior advisor to executive management on projects and programs andprovide status updates• Collaborate and maintain relationships with other government, education, communityand non-profit partners to ensure programs are delivered in a coordinated manner• Represent the Department in public presentations, career fairs and other events• Ensure programs meet performance benchmarks are achieved, identify deficiencies andimplement corrective action• Identify barriers to the success of programs and propose solutions to leadership• Monitor media reports, press releases and social media to stay on top of program impactand potential barriers• Prepare reports and make recommendations on program successes and operations.• Work closely with information technology staff to establish and update technologysystems used as part of these programsTelecommuting will be discussed at the interview.The travel requirement for this position will be 50% or more.Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
