Job Summary: Manage the system planning, system operation and the GIS and records function in the Electric Division. Manage UGI Electric Division's FERC Reliability Standards Compliance Program and represent Electric Division at various PJM Committees. Coordinate Electric Operations budget preparation and variance reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • GIS and Records -- Manage the GISand Records Department to ensure all T&D maps and records are current and provide support to other departments as needed. Evaluate, develop, and integrate new business processes and technology into the Department to advance and support the mission and goals of Electric Operations.
  • System Planning - Supervise the system planning function for the Electric Division. This involves reviewing T&D system models and analyses to support system expansion plans. Assist with development of system plans in a timely manner consistent with the division's budget cycle. The goal is to maintain the integrity of the Division's T&D system consistent with the Division's Planning Standards.
  • PJM ,NERC & PUC -- Manage the Electric Division's FERC Reliability Standards and PJM Agreements (TO Matrix) compliance programs. Manage audit preparations and serve as primary audit contact for RFC and PJM. Represent the Electric Division on the PJM Operating & Planning Committees, PUC EDC Best Practices Committee & other committees as required.
  • System Operations - Manage the System Operations department to assure the Division's transmission and distribution is operated reliability and consistent with PJM directives. Evaluate, develop, and integrate new business processes and technology into the Department to advance and support the mission and goals of Electric Operations. Coordinate storm damage restoration.
  • Other -- Prepare and administer the CAPEX and OPEX budgets for Cost Centers 382, 388, and 392. Coordinate the preparation of the Electric Division's OPEX and CAPEX budgets and expenditure projections. Perform special projects and other related engineering functions as assigned. Assist in restoring service to customers after storms and other system trouble.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of UGI's Planning Principles and Practices; Operating Principles and Practices
  • Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards
  • Knowledge of PJM TO Matrix; PJM Operating Agreement, Tariff, and Manuals
  • Knowledge of Employment Policies and Practices
  • Knowledge of Distribution Transmission Line Construction Standards, Methods, and Equipment
  • Knowledge of UGI's Work Order, Purchasing, and GIS & Records System; UGI's Electric Service Tariff and Pole Attachment Agreements
  • Knowledge of PennDOT construction design utility and relocation regulations
  • Knowledge of UGI's safety and operations policies
  • Knowledge of The National Electric Safety Code and the National Electric Code
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to electric distribution work
  • Knowledge of UGI's SAP Suite, Outage Management System, SCADA, Customer and Other Information Systems and personal computers including proficiency in Access, Word, Excel, PSLF, PSEE and Cyme
  • Knowledge of GPS and other land surveying equipment
  • Ability to lead the department by setting goals and direction for the department, establishing a plan to meet those goals, follow through on the plan and assess results.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and inspire employees to perform to the best of their ability.
  • Ability to teach and coach employees in new skills, abilities, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to investigates the circumstances surrounding a claim, establish facts and fairly allocate responsibility and then to convey this finding verbally to the claimant in a clear, understandable, and convincing manner.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to deal with the public and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Ability to represent UGI in other business forums such as EAPA and PJM in an professional manner.
  • Ability to interview, select, and recommend hiring new employees.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering or Business Administration, MBA preferred
  • 8 years' experience
  • Professional Engineers License
