Service & Repair Mechanic - HVAC-R

Responsible for work in operation, maintenance, repair & installation of heating, refrigeration, & air-conditioning equipment. Inspect equipment for leaks & electrical or mechanical failures, adjusting controls, cleaning condensers, and other parts, lubricating moving parts, & other repair/installation work. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is ready to be used or does not breakdown. Troubleshoots on issues that arise and come up with a way to make repairs. Keeps inventory of parts and materials needed for jobs and orders parts as needed.

Min. Quals: Completion of NYS 2 year Service & Repair Mech. (HVAC-R) traineeship OR NYS 2 year refrigeration repair & maintenance training program; OR successful completion of any equivalent refrigeration repair & maintenance program (288hrs of trade specific classrm instruction,45hr tech math,45hr tech communications,15hrs blueprint reading with a "C" or better); OR 4 years of full-time experience in mechanical or electrical trade under a journey-level mechanic or electrician which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program, 1 year of which must include both training & work in operation & maintenance of commercial type refrigeration or air-conditioning equipment.
