East Hill Family Medical, Inc. Dental Assistant in Auburn, New York
DENTAL ASSISTANT 7:30am-6:00pm 40 hrs.
Provide excellent patient service.
Safely operate radiographic dental equipment, under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
Efficiently decontaminate, scrub, package and sterilize all instruments.
Perform solely mechanical work upon inert matter including, but not limited to, trimming or mounting impressions taken by the dentist. Only NYS Certified Dental Assistants can take impressions on their own.(COMP) (KNOW)
Act as an extra pair of hands for the dentist during procedures, performing tasks including, but not limited to, suctioning excess saliva, providing instruments, or holding a matrix strip or curing lamp while the dentist is practicing on the patient. (ALL CODES)
Review practitioner schedules for the next day to ensure prior authorizations for procedures have been completed and all necessary supplies are back from the lab. (COMP) (QUAL) (TWK)
Thoroughly complete paperwork, and make contact with insurers, patients, or lab to expedite prior authorization for procedures, assist in providing patients with referrals to outside practitioners, or to dispatch lab work appropriately. (ALL CODES)
Update patient charts as needed. (COMP) (KNOW) (TWK) Books next patient visit in the room following their current appointment. (EXP) (QUAL) (TWK) Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality. (COMP) (EXP) (QUAL) (TWK) Cover reception based on organizational need and/or by the direction of the Practice Administrator. (DEP) (KNOW) (TWK) Maintain sanitary and orderly conditions in the clinical areas at all times. (COMP) Clean, to OSHA and CDC standards, and set up operatory rooms after each visit and set up and stock rooms as needed. Maintain equipment and instruments within the office. (ALL CODES)
Check operatory rooms for expired materials, and dispose of properly. (COMP) (QUAL) (TWK) Demonstrates efficient/productive use of work time. Arrives for work as scheduled and focuses on job duties as listed above. Punches in/out daily and for lunch as required in a timely fashion. (DEP) (EXP) Demonstrates team effort. When individual work is complete, looks for ways to help others. (DEP) (PDT) Participates in educational and administrative staff training regarding infection controls procedures, HIPPA and other as determined by administration. Actively participate in the practices customer service and quality improvement efforts. (EXP) Other duties as dictated by the needs of the practice. (PDT) Completes all required training and continuing education as directed. (COMP) (KNOW) (QUAL) Assist with onboarding with new Dental Assistants. (ALL CODES) Identify needed equipment repairs or upgrades, and report to the Practice Administrator.(COMP) (KNOW) Attends mandatory staff meetings, morning huddles, training sessions and conferences, as scheduled.
