The Nehemiah Job description for Kitchen Manager
A Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of The Nehemiah Project,including volunteers and kitchen staff, maintaining food quality, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations , controlling inventory, and coordinating food preparation to deliver to deliver efficient and timeless service; requiring leadership skills, culinary expertise and a deep understanding of of food safety practices.
Key responsibilities:
Staff Management:
Oversee volunteers in kitchen and individuals that are there to prepare food, cook , dish wash and clean. Ensuring that individuals adhere standards
Food Quality control:
Monitor food preparation processes to maintain high quality standards . Including proper cooking techniques, and temp control
Inventory Management:
Regular review inventory levels, manage donations and create menus based on donations. Order only what is needed
Menu planning :
Utilize donations to menu plan. Ensure that all guidelines are being followed to for daycare, after school program and summer food program. Will also help support menu planning with special events
Kitchen operations :
Oversee the overall flow of kitchen, including coordination of volunteer, manage peak times help support special events
Cost Control :
Analyze food costs, identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to maintain profitability. This profit allows to have additional programs for the community and
Equipment Maintenance :
Monitor condition of kitchen equipment report any malfunctions and ensure proper cleaning and maintenance procedures are followed
Communication:
Effectively communicate with total Nehemiah staff when needed to ensure smooth operations and address issues promptly
Skills and Qualification's :
-Experience with Kitchen skills including knowledge of cooking techniques , menu development etc
- leadership skills
- Understanding of food safety regulations and willing to become safe serve
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Basic computer literacy for inventory, social media etc
Note: Specific responsibilities may vary depending on operational needs
Hours 35-40 hours primarily 1st shift besides special event days
Pay Range $15-$18 an hours along with incentive pays
