UPMC Coordinator, Work Comp- Orthopaedic Specialists in Allison Park, Pennsylvania

UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a full-time Coordinator, Work Comp to support Orthopaedic Specialists located at 9104 Babcock Blvd Medical T building 5th floor Pittsburgh PA 15237. This position will work Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm (hybrid option is available)

Purpose:

Responsible for fulfilling all Workers' Compensation medical record requests and third party disability forms.This position necessitates employee access to patient protected health information (PHI) as needed to perform the essential functions of a Workers' Compensation Liaison.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with providers and other departments to clarify worker status and restrictions.

  • Observes HIPAA and other privacy practices.

  • Copies patients' medical records and forwards them to requester via mail or fax.

  • Performs other duties as needed and directed by Management or team leader.

  • Interacts with case managers, adjustors and employers to fill requests for information of injured workers.

  • Reviews all medical records requests assuring requests are HIPAA compliant.

  • Obtains accurate patient information and demographics.

  • Reviews Disability/3rd Party Request forms, prepares invoices and forwards them to appropriate party for completion fee assuring HIPAA compliancy.

  • Completes forms and forwards them to proper company and/or patient.

  • Facilitates the sharing of information related to the care and recovery of injured workers.

  • Retrieves requested medical records through medical documentation system or patient chart.

  • Documents activity regarding medical record transactions.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 1 - 2 years of general clerical and computer experience in a health care setting is required. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
