Job Description

We are seeking a K-5 Elementary Science teacher to join CAI Learning Academy, a private school in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The dedicated and enthusiastic K-5 Elementary Science Teacher will join our faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of science in young students through hands-on learning, creative lesson plans, and a nurturing classroom environment.

What You'll Need

  • Curriculum Development: design and implement an engaging science curriculum that aligns with state standards and fosters curiosity and critical thinking

  • Instruction: deliver dynamic and interactive science lessons to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.

  • Classroom Management: maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment that supports the diverse learning needs of all students. Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines that promote positive behavior and respect. Monitor and assess the developmental progress of each child, providing individualized support as needed.

  • Assessment: conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adapt instruction as needed to meet learning objectives.

  • Communication and Collaboration: work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and development. Maintain open and effective communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and

  • supportive educational community. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events

  • Record Keeping and Reporting: maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child's progress, attendance, and behavior. Prepare and present progress reports and assessments to parents and administrators

  • Professional Development: participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in elementary science education.

  • Extracurricular Activities: lead or support science-related extracurricular activities, clubs, or events, such as an annual 5th grade science fair

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Science Education, or a related field

  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Elementary Education or Science Education

  • Strong knowledge of elementary science concepts and teaching methods.

  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills

  • Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency with educational technology and tools

Preferred:

  • Master's degree is preferred

  • Prior teaching experience at the elementary level, particularly in a science classroom, is highly desirable

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods
