Reference #: 4528325 THE POSITION The Albion State Correctional Institution (SCI) is currently on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate individual who is self-driven and possesses the necessary expertise to join their team as a Corrections Food Service Instructor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The primary responsibility of this role is to act as a lead worker, overseeing and coordinating the tasks performed by inmates in various areas such as pre-preparation, production, service, and baking. In addition to assigning and participating in these routine and specialized tasks, you will also be responsible for reviewing their work. As part of your duties, you will play a crucial role in maintaining control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations. This includes conducting regular inspections of food service areas, equipment, and food to ensure compliance with established safety and sanitation standards. By diligently carrying out these responsibilities, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the facility's food service operations and help maintain a safe and hygienic environment for both staff and inmates. Your attention to detail and adherence to regulations will be essential in upholding the highest standards of food service within the correctional facility.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM.
  • Work week- days off are to be determined. A schedule and pass days will be determined during the hiring process.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753 (before taxes).

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
