Promotes each child's total development, in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development, toward the ultimate goal of social competence. Supports and respects parents in their roles as their children's primary teacher. Establishes productive relationships with families so that the program reflects their interests and values and acknowledges their concerns. Consults with Head Start Nutrition, Health, and Mental Health, Special Services, and Family/community partnership content area managers to integrate activities into daily plans. Responsible for the tone of the classroom with the teaching team. Ultimately responsible for planning, safety, supervision, and adherence to program requirements and regulations while providing comprehensive early childhood education programming to children in a center-based setting.

Responsible for planning and carrying out preschool classes with Head Start curriculum Works cooperatively with and gives direction to Teacher and Teacher Assistant, facilitates constructive adult-child interaction, and is responsible for classroom environment, planning, documentation, and compliance with Federal and State regulations.
