The Security Officer is the main link between AMC Security Services and all people served. In the course of his or her duties, and especially while on patrol, the officer assumes many roles and provides numerous essential services. Security Officers are expected to provide the highest quality of professional service to all “customers” (employees, students, visitors, patients and others). While on patrol, as an “ambassador” for AMC, officers are expected to always present a professional image. This includes being well informed, courteous and promptly taking necessary action.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) required

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

-NYS security guard registration required

-Valid NYS Driver’s License required

-Completed 16-hour OJT course is preferred

Experience:

Experience in a hospital environment is desirable

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

-Must possess good judgement, emotional control, objectivity and sounds decision-making skills.

-Ability to work independently.

-Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations and when dealing with uncertainty.

-Must possess effective computer knowledge and skills, as well as report writing skills.

-Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position without or with reasonable accommodation.
