New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a driving force in realizing this agenda. NYSERDA works with stakeholders that span residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:

  • Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.

  • Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York.

  • Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably from energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Job Overview

NYSERDA seeks a creative, self-motivated project manager to join the Clean and Resilient Buildings team as part of the Single Family Residential team. The Single Family Residential team is responsible for advancing solutions to increase access to clean energy solutions and the delivery of associated benefits to one- to four-family homes and low-rise multifamily buildings across New York State. The team delivers a number of initiatives designed to scale up the residential clean energy market. This position will support the development and implementation of strategies to drive transformational change in New York State supporting the accelerated market adoption of energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, and decarbonization of the residential building sector.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage Experience Clean Heat, which supports businesses and public spaces that are contributing to the State’s clean energy goals by encouraging local residents to visit these spaces to see and feel firsthand the benefits of heating and cooling with a heat pump.

  • Work with the team to develop accessible tools and resources to help New York State residents and market actors understand and evaluate their options for energy efficiency and clean energy services

  • Maintain a network of stakeholders, market participants, trade associations, peer program administrators, and other sources of insight to inform continuous improvement and evolution of market strategies

  • Manage external contractors to ensure contracted deliverables are high quality, on-time, and within budget

  • Assisting NYSERDA teams in processing new contracts, funding memoranda, contract modifications, umbrella agreements, and Task Work Orders.

  • Organizing and co-facilitating initiative-related webinars, meetings, and working groups.

  • Represent NYSERDA at public meetings and other forums including working groups.

  • Support the successful evolution and implementation of other residential energy efficiency and clean energy initiatives offered by NYSERDA’s Single Family Residential team

  • Support tracking of metrics and reporting on accomplishments

  • Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in residential energy efficiency, housing, environmental policy, or other relevant project management experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong project management and time management skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information.

  • Proven ability to anticipate needs in advance, multi-task, and plan ahead, as well as enthusiasm for new challenges.

  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in all duties.

  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and seek opportunities for improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred requirement: Master’s degree and 4 years of experience

  • Familiarity with New York State’s Climate Act goals and objectives.

  • Expertise in one or more areas of the one-to-four family energy efficiency and/or clean energy markets.

Experience working with a broad spectrum of both public and private stakeholders
