Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Health Education Outreach Specialist I will provide support for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of mass media and/or community outreach health education and promotion campaigns for specific target audiences on COVID-19 heath issues. Responsibilities will include: assisting with the production of both print and electronic media materials; assisting program staff in outreach efforts and targeting of appropriate community groups and populations; assisting with producing media packages on specific health programs and distribute to interested parties; assisting to prepare and/or edit health education and promotion materials for all media; gather information for the response to questions concerning programmatic issues; and assisting with preparations for press conferences, public announcements, and other events.

The COVID-19 Health Disparities Program is designed to address the long-standing inequities that have systematically undermined the physical, social, economic, and emotional health of racial and ethnic minority populations and other population groups that are bearing a disproportionate burden of COVID-19.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Communication, or a related field and one year of experience in a health education, public health, human services or health related program/organization; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and three years of such experience; OR five years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience writing and editing materials for various audiences. Experience working with community-based organizations. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and WebEx. A bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Writing, Public Health or another related field. At least one year of experience in the preparation and distribution of materials in print media (e.g., brochures, posters, ads, newsletters) and/or electronic media (e.g., radio and TV public service announcements, videos, interactive computer programs).

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
