Responsibilities

General Functions:

The Commercial Banking Group Manager is responsible for leading a team of commercial banking professionals to drive growth, manage risk, and develop strong client relationships within a designated market territory. This role ensures strategic execution of lending, treasury, and financial solutions while fostering a high-performance culture within the team. The position requires deep industry knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to engage with key stakeholders to expand market share and enhance profitability.

Essential Duties:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of relationship managers, loan officers, and support staff to achieve performance goals.
  • Set clear objectives, provide ongoing coaching, and foster professional development to ensure team success.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture with a focus on client satisfaction and revenue growth.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Market & Business Development:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand commercial banking relationships within the designated territory.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including middle-market lending, treasury management, and other financial services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients, prospects, and industry leaders to enhance brand presence and market positioning.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders such as credit risk, operations, and treasury teams to provide holistic financial solutions to clients.

Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Oversee credit risk assessment and ensure proper underwriting practices to maintain a strong loan portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management frameworks.
  • Work closely with credit teams to assess and mitigate risks associated with lending activities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and implement proactive measures to address potential credit concerns.

Financial & Performance Management:

  • Drive financial results by managing portfolio profitability, revenue growth, and cost efficiency.
  • Analyze financial reports, market trends, and competitor activities to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success against business objectives.
  • Optimize pricing strategies for loans, deposits, and other banking services to enhance overall profitability.


Qualifications

Education/Training: B.S. or B.A. degree in related field of study; specialized bank commercial lending education and training. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Deep understanding of credit risk, underwriting principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
