University at Albany Administrative Manager in Albany, New York

The Department of Atmospheric & Environmental Sciences at the University of Albany seeks to hire an Administrative Manager. The main objective of this role is to provide all necessary administrative support and services to assist the Department Chair in ensuring the department faculty's greatest effectiveness in their primary roles as teachers and researchers.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Administrative Manager carries out administrative activities of the Department to facilitate relationships between the Chair and the faculty, between staff and students, between the Department and University offices, and between the Department and agencies outside the University.

Provide personnel management for department faculty, staff, and students. Manage department accounts, budgets, and facilities. Support academic transactions. Facilitate communication within and outside the department. Oversee and process various academic-related transactions, such as course scheduling, adjunct hiring, and Graduate and Teaching Assistant appointments and assignments. Reporting Relationships:

The Administrative Manager supervises department office assistants, work-study students, and students assigned to the department office.

Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. At least two years of professional experience in an administrative capacity. Experience with Microsoft Office. Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Evidence of strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team. Experience working in higher education with faculty and students. Experience with university software, such as PeopleTools, Business Intelligence, Slate, etc.
